  8. Should I Wear a Bra or Can I Do Without?

This question is more relevant than ever. Lockdown, isolation, home office - all of this has had and still has some impact on our clothing style. The main thing is comfort! And even as things are loosening up a bit again, and people are going back to the office, the desire for comfortable fashion persists, for some more than others. This includes underwear. That's why there's currently a hype around the "No-Bra" or "Braless" trend – the trend that it's completely okay to do without a bra. Of course, you can decide for yourself whether you want to wear a bra or not. After all, you should feel comfortable, and no one else! If you prefer not to give up on a bra but still want maximum comfort and support, then you should definitely invest in a comfortable bra. Depending on the model, it fits like a second skin, and you hardly feel like you're wearing a bra at all. It's great that more and more lingerie brands are focusing on comfortable bras that make you feel like you're wearing nothing at all. Instead of thick padding and painful underwires digging into your chest, they opt for cozy cuts and materials that adapt perfectly to your body while still providing sufficient support. And the best part: comfortable bras prove that comfort and design don't have to be mutually exclusive. Comfortable bras are just as sexy and create a great cleavage.

We'll show you bras that are so comfortable you'll hardly feel them.

Comfortable Bras: What Matters

Almost every woman knows them: bras that you've bought but don't wear and instead, stash in the back of the underwear drawer. The problem: they're simply too uncomfortable. Whether a bra is comfortable or not, we usually realize quite quickly. But exchanging them is often too late. But what actually makes a bra comfortable? What should we look for when buying in the future?

First and foremost, it's essential that nothing pinches or pokes in a bra. The underwires of bras often press into the chest or armpits, seams scratch, plastic or metal inserts poke, or the underbust band presses uncomfortably. However, this is not sensible.

A bra should be barely noticeable, feel like a second skin, and still provide adequate support to the breast. Especially for larger busts, the right support is essential to relieve the back and breast tissue.

Comfortable Bras in Various Styles Comfortable Bras #1: Wire-Free Bras Underwire bras are considered classics and generally provide perfect support to the breast. However, wearing underwire bras is often perceived as very uncomfortable. The underwires often press into the skin or breast, which can become painful over time.

Much more comfortable are wire-free bras, also known as soft bras. As the name suggests, a wire-free bra does not have metal inserts. However, this does not mean that the bust is less supported. Well-fitting wire-free models also shape the breast beautifully and provide sufficient support thanks to special cuts and materials.

Wire-free bras come in numerous shapes and designs, suitable for small or large breasts. One particularly popular model on the internet, with almost 8,000 reviews and a rating of 4.2 out of 5 stars (as of September 2022) on Amazon, is the Zero Feel Bra by Sloggi. According to the manufacturer, this bra offers an "Unfeelable Feeling," as if you're not wearing a bra at all.

You're looking for a model with a subtle push-up effect? Then this bra from Triumph (available on Amazon*) is a good choice. According to the manufacturer, the bra fits like a second skin, is as soft as velvet, and creates a beautiful cleavage thanks to padded cups.

Comfortable Bras #2: Bralettes

Bralettes without underwires and padding also provide an absolute "No-Bra" feeling. Luckily, these comfortable pieces are currently among the trendiest underwear styles. Bralettes are available in numerous designs, as halterneck models or with delicate straps, minimalist or exciting with lace inserts and sexy embroidery.

Comfortable bras are perfect for women with small busts. However, for larger busts, it's not always easy to find a model that fits well and provides sufficient support. Women with a generous bosom should opt for bralettes with extra-wide straps and an underbust band.

By the way, fashion professionals like to wear their bralette visibly as a "top," preferably under an oversized blazer. Also great: when the trendy piece peeks out from under a V-neck sweater or crop top.

Comfortable Bras #3: Cotton Bras

It's not just underwires or metal inserts that often make a bra uncomfortable. The material also plays a significant role. Bras made of firmer, stiffer material do not conform well to the breast or are perceived as scratchy and irritating.

Especially comfortable on the skin are bras made of cotton. The material also has the advantage of absorbing moisture well and being breathable. Also popular for their comfort are pieces made of satin or silk, high-quality cashmere, or knitted fabric. Knitwear is currently considered an absolute trendy material and feels particularly cozy on chilly winter days.

Comfortable Bras #4: Bandeaus

While bustiers were loyal companions during teenage years, today only a few still opt for them. Bustiers are often considered unsuitable for providing adequate support to the breast and are no longer suitable for larger busts - that's the common prejudice. However, that's not entirely correct. It simply depends on the right model.

Bustiers come without fasteners and underwires and are simply pulled over the upper body. Comfortable and supportive options include pieces with wide straps, softly supportive underbust bands, and integrated foam cups.

For example, the bustiers from UnsichtBra are popular. The SoftBras have extra-wide shoulder straps and come without underwires and seams. Shop them on Amazon.*

Tip: If you have a larger bust, make sure that the breast is not too tightly squeezed, and opt for a size up.

Comfortable Bras #5: Seamless Bras

Another comfortable alternative to the classic underwire bra is seamless bras. This includes, for example, the molded cup bra. Seamless bras come without underwires and bothersome seams but have integrated foam cups that shape the breast beautifully and prevent nipple show-through.

Since comfortable bras have no seams, they are also suitable for tight tops where nothing should show through. One important thing to remember: fashion is a matter of personal taste. Our styling tips, outfit ideas.
