5 ideas how outfits look younger and more modern

What makes us look younger and more modern without being overly youthful? Not every new trend suits every woman. But with the right fashion and interesting outfits, we look younger and more modern.

I'll tell you 5 ideas and styling tricks that will make your outfits look livelier.

1. Look younger with bold colour:

Certain colors have enormous radiance and give the complexion a healthy freshness. Pastels such as apricot, raspberry, baby blue, lime green or sage look light and fresh on cool color types. Turquoise always looks sporty and lively, bright red makes you perk up, yellow makes you lively, orange and pink spice up an outfit enormously. Just think of the Queen!
Black and gray are welcome to stay in the closet, because colors not only ensure radiance, they also have an effect on the mood.

2. Look younger with eye-catching outfits

Combining classics like jeans and a sweater always works, but it makes outfits one-sided and makes them look boring. They look slightly dated, practical and most importantly, uninspired.

Instead: ONE part of the outfit should be great, an eye-catcher and it gets the stage to have an effect. It is the "effect catcher" and turns boring outfits into interesting combinations.

So mix up a trendy piece, a wildly patterned top, a bright scarf, a funny shoe, a large belt, a colorful handbag or hat. And a red lipstick is also an eye-catcher, it is the simplest eye-catcher and looks like an accessory.

3. Good proportions instead of a baggy look

Fashion has offered us a lot of oversized, large items of clothing for a long time, but that doesn't suit all women. Many sink into boxy giant blazers, oversized Marlene pants, or XXL sweaters and sweatshirts and are no longer to be seen. Small women in particular appear visually stronger and literally sink into it.

Corona has made us used to these comfortable pieces, but areas on the body that reveal the silhouette should always be accentuated. For example, if you have strong legs and bottom, it is better to combine wide, casual trousers with a narrow top.

You have a small hips, but stomach? Tuck your other tops loosely into the high waistband of high-waist trousers, then your legs will appear longer. The different proportions make your outfit look more modern and slimmer.

It is best to emphasize what you particularly like about yourself. Great wrists, legs, ankles, a nice cleavage or your shoulders? Emphasize your chocolate sides!

4. Look younger with styling

As a former stylist, I can tell you hundreds of tricks, because styling can make many items of clothing liven up in no time at all. For example, if you roll up the sleeves of your sweater, blazer or blouse, it always looks more casual. In addition, many women have delicate wrists, which you can see and that makes them look slimmer.

(If your sleeves are slipping down, grab a household elastic and tuck it in the sleeve's piled-up folds.)

Jeans hems that are rolled up also make an outfit appear fresher. If you have a lot of narrow trousers or skinny jeans in your closet: Release your ankles, combine sneakers, loafers or a pointed ballerina. This looks younger and more modern than the classic long trousers that lie on the shoes.

A patterned scarf that picks up the colors of the outfit is always a styling idea to bring more excitement to an outfit.

5. Look younger with a mix of styles

It takes style breaks to make an outfit look interesting. Nothing is more boring than a look that only consists of basics. A completely sporty outfit consisting of a practical fleece jacket and jeans for a walk or just classic clothes in the office/home office don't look interesting.

It is well known that opposites attract. Skilfully combined, they ensure more youthfulness.
For example, combine a floral dress with sneakers, a leather jacket with a lace blouse, a sporty blouson with a pencil skirt, a hoodie under a chic blazer, white sneakers with a pants suit, or casual boyfriend jeans with high heels.

Got enough ideas?

If you feel like trying out these tips and want to make more out of the clothes you already have: Just get started and try them out in your closet right away.
