How to Wash Your Underwear With Detergent?
Washing panties, bras and lingerie hygienically without the fabrics and colors suffering? With these tips, it's easy. Read here how to get your lingerie optimally clean, which detergent to use and how many degrees to wash at.
Which washing program is suitable?
You can simply put normal underwear such as cotton briefs in the colored wash. For lingerie made of lace, select the delicate wash program. In addition, make sure to use a low spin speed, which is gentler on the fabrics. If the textiles are made of silk or have intricate embroidery, use the hand wash program - or clean the garments by hand straight away.
Washing underwear - at how many degrees?
The right temperature depends on the material and how the garment is made. To be on the safe side, check the laundry label again. Low wash temperatures are more environmentally friendly and save money. Suitable detergents clean your textiles at just 30 degrees. Underwear does not normally need to be washed hot - the only exceptions are particularly stubborn stains and in case of illness.
In general, the following temperatures are recommended:
Lingerie made of fine silk: cold at a maximum of 20 degrees
Underwear made of polyester and bras: maximum 30 degrees
Textiles made of easy-care cotton: up to 60 degrees
White cotton underwear: up to 90 degrees (only exceptionally, e.g., in case of insufficient cleaning at lower temperatures)
Tip:
Underwear with blood stains should never be washed warm. This would cause the discoloration to adhere to the fabric. Ideally, rinse the garment directly under cold tap water. Put the underwear in the washing machine immediately after stain treatment to remove any residue.
Which detergent for underwear?
Heavy-duty and color detergents are all-purpose and a good choice for non-sensitive fabrics. Whether you reach for liquid detergent or powder - the products wash your clothes hygienically and protect the colors.
Wool and delicates detergent is especially suitable for textiles made of sensitive materials. If you tend to have sensitive skin, it's best to opt for a sensitive detergent with ingredients that are gentle on the skin.
