Finding the Right Bra for Your Figure
In your lingerie drawer, you probably have a variety of different bra styles - but do you know which one is truly suitable for you and your figure?
For Women with Small to Medium-Sized Breasts
Balcony Bra or Balconette Bra
Attention, please don't immediately think of a balcony when you hear "Balcony" or "Balconette" bra! The word "Balcony" can be misleading because it refers to a particular feature of the straps. In a Balcony bra, the straps are positioned far out on the cups, which naturally pushes the breasts together in the front. Additionally, it generally consists of less fabric than other bras, exposing more skin. It's no wonder that most dirndl bras are Balcony bras.
Suitable for: Balcony bras are ideal for women with small to medium-sized busts. They enhance a beautiful, rounded shape and fuller cleavage for those with cup sizes B or C. Women with a larger bust may find it challenging to be satisfied with a Balcony bra, as the style is quite specialized.
T-Shirt Bra
The T-Shirt bra is seamless, with soft, smooth cups, making it perfect for wearing under tight-fitting shirts or lightweight blouses. Usually, T-Shirt bras don't have embellishments like bows or lace. The edges and closures are very thin, and the straps are positioned wide apart. For smaller busts, choose T-Shirt bras with inserts to create a push-up effect.
Suitable for: Women with small to medium-sized (B to C cup) busts. Women with larger breasts (size D and above) should avoid T-Shirt bras as they do not provide adequate support.
Push-Up or Maximizer
The Push-Up bra provides support and shapes the bust. It either has built-in inserts or allows you to insert pads that lift the breasts upward and push them together in the center, creating cleavage. Push-Up bras typically have a low center gore and are often plunging. However, be cautious, as the inserts can alter the shape of your breasts. Therefore, a Push-Up bra should not be worn too frequently.
Suitable for: Push-Up bras are especially suitable for situations where women with small breasts want to accentuate their cleavage. They look best with deep necklines but are not ideal for everyday wear.
Plunge Bra
Plunge-style bras are great for V-neck tops. They have a deep neckline that extends downward and disappears under pointed necklines. Unlike the Balcony bra, they have a larger fabric coverage. Plunge bras must fit perfectly; otherwise, they may flatten larger breasts or cause uncomfortable strap indentations.
Suitable for: Women with small to medium-sized breasts.
3/4-Cup Bra
The 3/4-Cup bra does not completely cover the breasts and is ideal for enhancing them with lower necklines. The cup size of a 3/4-Cup bra falls between the 1/2-Cup and the full cup.
Suitable for: Women with small to medium-sized breasts.
For Women with Large Breasts
Minimizer
Minimizer bras visually reduce breast size. The flat design pushes the breasts toward the armpits, making them appear flatter. Healthwise, they are not recommended and should be worn as infrequently as possible. Bras with slight lace can also make the breasts look smaller but are less harmful to breast tissue.
Suitable for: These bras are suitable for women with a large bust (from cup size D).
Full-Cup
The Full-Cup bra has a lot of fabric and covers a significant portion of the breast. The straps are typically positioned in the middle of the cups, and the center gore is higher.
Suitable for: This bra is best for women with ample volume in the upper chest area or generally soft breasts. Women with less volume may prefer a Half-Cup or Balconette bra.
Suitable for All Sizes
Multiway Bra
What sets Multiway bras apart is their adjustable straps. Whether you want them crossed, around the neck, or even completely removed, the Multiway bra offers you many options. You just need to decide whether you want it as a Full-Cup, Push-Up, or in another style.
