Balconette bra

Balconette bra

The balconette bra actually gets its name from the shape of a balcony. The two half-cup cups are cut straight at the top, and the straps are attached particularly far to the outside. The preformed half-cups lift the bust without covering it. The bust size is pushed up and is reminiscent of a balcony. Therefore, a balconette bra is ideal for shirts and dresses with a wide neckline and is suitable for all cup sizes. The perfect fit is important here - the cups should completely enclose the chest.

 underwired bra

Underwired bra

The underwired bra is the oldest form of the brassiere and the model that most others follow. The classic is characterized by integrated underwires that support the breasts and also ensure a beautiful shape. Underwired bras come in many different designs and cuts - they are suitable for all cup sizes.

 Bandeau bra

Bandeau bra

The bandeau bra has no straps or underwires sewn in: the simple shape is reminiscent of a fabric band. The model is ideal for wearing under off-the-shoulder tops or dresses. Silicone straps are often incorporated to ensure that the bandeau bra does not slip. Often there is no fastener, and you simply slip the bandeau bra over your head. It is particularly suitable for small to medium breast sizes - with very large cup sizes, bandeau bras offer too little support.

Strapless bra

Strapless bra

Compared to the bandeau bra, which is particularly suitable for smaller bust sizes, strapless bras are also suitable for large breasts, depending on the cut. Lightly lined cups, sewn-in underwires or side supports also give a larger bust size enough support. They look particularly good under strapless tops and dresses.

Multiway bra

Multiway bra

An alternative to the strapless or bandeau bra is the multiway bra, also known as a multifunction or multiposition bra. Its straps are variable, so they can be worn straight, crossed or as a halterneck. If you want, you can of course remove them completely or use transparent carriers. This means that the bra can be optimally matched to the clothing.

 Plunge bra

Plunge bra

The plunge bra is particularly suitable for low-cut clothing, because the bridge is particularly narrow and the cups are cut very diagonally towards the middle so that nothing flashes out of the dress. The plunge bra conjures up a beautiful low cut for women with a smaller bust size and makes it look bigger. If you have a large bust, it can mean that the breast falls out of the cup in the middle. In this case, a balconette bra is a better choice.

 Triangle bra

Triangle bra

Triangle bras feature triangular cups. They are usually available as so-called soft bras without integrated underwire and are therefore particularly suitable for small to medium-sized breasts. They are available with normal straps as well as with a halterneck.

 Push up bra

Push up bra

Push-up bras lift the breasts from the sides and below and are particularly popular with women with small to medium bust sizes. The special cut and the integrated cushions or gel pads conjure up a sexy décolleté even with small bust sizes. It is therefore also called the Maximizer bra.

T-shirt bra

T-shirt bra

T-shirt bras are characterized by the fact that there are no annoying seams on the cups that could show when worn under a tight, thin shirt. Therefore, they are perfect under tight shirts and tops and fit every breast shape. The correct fit of the t-shirt bra is very important so that it is nice and smooth.

 Minimizer bra

Minimizer bra

Women with large breasts like to use minimizer bras. They make the bust look smaller. Preformed cups gently enclose the breasts, making them appear smaller without pinching. The straps are cut wide so that nothing cuts in. In this way, the weight is optimally distributed, the back is relieved and postural damage is prevented - this is why one often speaks of relief bras.

 Stick-On Bra

Stick-On Bra

If you want to show your back and deep V at the same time, but don't want to do without a bra, a stick-on bra is the best choice. The cups are usually made of silicone or fabric and are glued on or under the breast to support the breast even with low-cut clothing. Not suitable for very large breasts.

 Corset

Corset / Corselet

If you want a lot of support and a shaping effect, you should go for a corsage or a corselet. The waist-length tops with an elaborate bust section (often as the cup or push-up bras) emphasize the waist. For the extra shaping effect, flexible bones are often worked into the sides, and in some cases, the straps can also be removed. Corselet are particularly sexy with matching thongs and stockings.

 Bustier

Bustier

For women with rather small breasts, unpadded bustiers are the perfect alternative to a normal bra, because they are particularly comfortable, fit like a second skin, but still offer some support. Women with larger bust sizes are better advised to wear bustiers with underwires or built-in cups.

 Bralette

Bralette / High Apex Bra

Bralettes and high-apex bras draw attention to the breasts in a particularly sexy way with various details such as lace and embroidery. They have a wide underbust band and cups without padding - this makes them particularly comfortable, but only for women with rather small breasts. For larger sizes, an underwired version or a high-apex bra with wider straps should be chosen.

 Sports bra

Sports bra

As the name suggests, the sports bra was designed for workouts. Depending on the type of sport, there are models with a stronger to lighter hold, all of which are characterized by wide straps that optimally distribute the weight of the chest over the shoulders. There are three levels: Low Impact (ideal for yoga or hiking), Medium Impact (e.g., for skiing or Zumba) and High Impact (ideal for jogging, horseback riding or sweaty HIIT workouts).

Not all bras are the same: there are numerous types of brassieres, and each type of bra has a different cut and fulfills different functions. Depending on the shape of the breast, physique and activity, different models are suitable, but hardly anyone knows them exact designations and the benefits of each individual bra model. So here is an overview of the different types of bras, their characteristics and which bra is best for whom!
