Sport is murder! The saying is not true, of course, but for your breasts it is the truth. Whether you have a large or small bust, a supportive sports bra is an absolute must for every woman! Find out why here.

The female breast consists mainly of fatty, glandular and connective tissues, which are supported by the delicate skin of the bust. Gravity can be detrimental during exercise - vigorous movements can overstress the delicate tissue and skin. Tears in the tissue or skin can occur, known as stretch marks. In addition to this cosmetic problem, sports without a sports bra is quite uncomfortable and can even hurt at times - breast sensitivity is also cycle-related.

Why a sports bra?

 

Some women simply take a normal bra to do sports - this is not exactly advantageous if it is an underwire bra. The underwire can press unfavorably on the breast tissue, and the fabric of the bra may not be elastic enough to withstand sports activities.

A sports bra, on the other hand, is already designed to withstand a lot: it fits perfectly and supports the breast almost imperceptibly. The breasts are completely enclosed, no closure or underwire presses into the breast. Models without a closure at the back are even very useful for sports such as yoga and Pilates, because during exercises in the supine position there is nothing that could hurt you.

In addition, the fabric of the bra protects optimally against sweat and moisture, fungi and bacteria on the skin have no chance against the absorbent power of your bra. Better ventilation of your sports clothes also protects you from colds, especially in outdoor sports. In addition, a sports bra ensures a better posture.

 

Choosing the right sports bra

 

But not all sports bras are the same: each type of sport requires a different strength of fabric. After all, the bra must be able to support, but still be so comfortable that you completely forget about it and your breasts even when jumping on the trampoline. There are a total of four gradations of sports bras.

Gentle sports like yoga, pilates, qigong or tai chi or hiking will do just fine with a very soft bra. Here, your primary concern is your comfort and minimal support. Such bras are also good for sleeping, should your bust size bother you while sleeping.

Then come sports that need a more reliable support: Zumba or Nordic walking, for example, are sports with a medium load on the bust. For running or aerobic training as well as ball sports it is recommended to get a sports bra with high or very high support.

Otherwise, the proof of the pudding is in the eating! If you feel comfortable in the bra and your breasts stay in place, you have found the right one. This also applies to your normal everyday bras.

You should avoid washing your sports bra with fabric softener. This will destroy the function of its fibers and your bra will not be able to wick moisture away from your body as well.
