How Bra Size Is Determined? US/UK & Europe/International Size Comparison Chart

by GuoLucy 20 Oct 2021 0 Comments

Found around, many girls are not very good at measuring their bra size. Today, we will show it, easy to learn to understand.

We have a way of measuring the size of bra as follows:

how bra size is measured

Chest circumference (i.e., upper chest circumference)-a measurement made horizontally with a soft tape measure that measures the circumference of the breast before and after the breast point is encircled.

Lower chest circumference is measured horizontally with a soft tape measure around the base of the nipple.

Methods of measuring chest circumference and lower chest circumference -- it is the method of measuring chest circumference at different angles.

In general, there are two standard chest measurement units available in the market:

1.It is the international unit-cm (symbol: cm), used to mark the lower chest

2.It is an American unit-inches/inches (symbol:”), used to mark the bust (i.e., the upper bust)

Note: 1”= 2.54 cm

when using the International Unit CM, the standard size of the lower bust is increased by an integral multiple of 5, but not everyone’s size will be exactly the same multiple of 5, so tolerance of less than 5 cm between each size is allowed, as shown below:

60/Cup, lower chest in the range of 58-62 cm

65/Cup, lower chest in the range of 63-67 cm

70/Cup, lower chest in the range of 68 ~ 72 cm

75/Cup, lower chest in the range of 73 to 77 cm

80/Cup, lower chest in the range of 78 ~ 82 cm

85/Cup, lower chest in the 83-87 cm range

90/Cup, lower chest in the range of 88 to 92 cm

95/Cup, lower chest in the range of 93 to 97 cm

when using UK/US units, the chest measurement standard is increased by a factor of 2, with tolerances of less than 1 inch between each measurement, as shown below:

30/Cup, bra size in the 29.5 ~ 30.5” range

32/Cup, bra size in the range of 31.5 to 32.5”.

34/Cup, bra size in the range of 33.5 to 34.5”.

36/Cup, bra size in the 35.5-36.5” range

38/Cup, bra size in the range of 37.5 to 38.5”.

40/Cup, bra size in the 39.5 to 40.5” range.

42/Cup, bra size in the range of 41.5 to 42.5”.

How to measure the cups?

We know the definition of BRA measurement, then the calculation of the size of the cup is simple, the size of the cup is determined by the difference between the lower bra and the upper bra, marked with English letters, as follows:

Upper chest circumference-lower chest circumference < 7.5 cm = AA Cup

Upper chest circumference-lower chest circumference = 7.5 ~ 10 cm = a cup

Upper bust-lower bust = 10 ~ 12.5 cm = b cup

Upper chest circumference-lower chest circumference = 12.5 ~ 15 cm = C Cup

Upper bust-lower bust = 15 ~ 17.5 cm = D cup

Upper chest circumference-lower chest circumference = 17.5 ~ 22.5 cm = e cup

Of course, there are a lot of girls with big breasts now, so there are also F, G, and H Cups, calculated according to the above algorithm.

Put together definitions and algorithms for cup size and bra size, and it will be easy to choose the right bra size for you.

Besides, we have given the below size comparison table of International and UK/US size chart for your reference. Go and pick your perfect bra now!
