Demi Bra vs Balconette Bra (What the Heck are the Differences?)

by GuoLucy 08 Feb 2023 0 Comments

Today we're going to be talking about demi bras versus balconette bras we're going to go through kind of each one individually. Talking about the features - and you know what makes what makes a demi what makes a balconette and then at the end here we're gon na i'm gon na put this balconette bra, actually on top of the demi bra, so that you can visually see the differences between The two and kind of understand better when to wear each before we get started.

demi Bra
I'm going to go ahead and put the balconette bra down and we'll just focus here on the demi bra to start so with a demi bra. What makes it unique is going to be the amount of coverage you get with the cup style, so the cup is going to cover half to three quarters of your breast leaving the rest exposed, and you can see here. I would say this one is a little bit closer to that three quarter: cup style rather than half style um and the other thing you're going to see - and this is really going to be a difference too, with the balcony so pay attention is the angling of The cups, so this one is definitely more of that v, almost plunge style and you'll, see when we bring the balconette bra in that it definitely cuts a little bit more across the other. Defining factor here of demi bras is going to be this huge u-shaped underwire that you get going underneath your boobs.

Now what this does is this really helps to lift and naturally emphasize your chest and really give you some nice cleavage because of how supportive this underwire underneath is it's really going to just scoop up all of the breast tissue underneath and push it up. You can even see here with this demi bra that there's no padding in it and uh. You don't really need padding because of for lack of better words. This really intense underwire that you get underneath so uh, that's something again as we look at the balconette bra you'll see the differences here between kind of how extreme this u-shape is compared to what you typically get in balconette bras.

Okay. So what what type of outfits would you typically wear a a demi bra with? Well, this is going to work great for those low cut tops. Really you can go v-neck, because, especially with this one, you get that plunge feature and it works well for scoop necks. It also does work decently well for wide tops like wide neck tops because of how far out the straps do go. The the balcony, i believe, goes a little bit further out making it the superior uh bra when you do have kind of that square neck top, but some demi uh bras will allow you to get away with a square neck top, and the other thing that you Can wear uh demi bras for is lingerie, as you see with this one too, as i mentioned, there's there's no padding, there's no lining underneath. So this and balcony bras too work really well. If you want to wear uh some lingerie, this is going to be a really good option and you can kind of go like day to night with a bra like this, because it is acceptable to wear this. You know again with like a low top and then you can transition into the night as with it being lingerie all right.

Balconette Bra
So now we've switched out the bra on the mannequin. We now have this balconette bra, which already you might see some notable differences. But let's talk through features that you typically see in balconette bras. The really this defining feature that you're going to get here is going to be the square neckline that you see here and what this does is. You'Re gon na have this half cup bra and it's really like a balcony for your breasts. Hence balconette bra balcony see the connection so uh. Really. This is a balcony for your bra or for your breasts. When we put the uh, the demi bra on you're, really gon na see the difference here and how this one cuts straight across see how this is really great. When you do have that square neckline for your shirt, the other thing is look. How wide set these straps are. I mean on the mannequin, like they're, almost falling off the shoulders because they are so wide set, but that really does help with the the balcony effect that you get with this bra and one one thing i do want to point out here on uh. This bra is how it's different than a push-up bra, because you might think well, it's a balcony. So it is it's pushing up your chest and yes, it is, but it differs from a push-up bra, because a push-up bra is going to push up, but it's also going to push in on the sides and a balcony bra does not do that. Balcony bras. Also, typically, don't have much padding inside them. They have some lining, maybe some very minimal padding, but typically they're not going to have that, so it doesn't create the same, like cleavage effect that you would get from a push-up bra. So you know if you are going for um, you know an outfit where you want your boobs pushed up and in to really get that nice deep cleavage line. Uh don't go for a balconette bra, go for a push-up bra.
Demi Bra vs Balconette Bra
So uh! You know. When would you wear a balconette bra well somewhat similar situations that you would wear a demi bra, balconette bras work great for lingerie. You can see they typically are kind of this sexier. Even lacy style works perfect for lingerie, also during the daytime. If you do have a scoop neck, a square neckline all of those you're going to want to grab a balconette bra, especially over a demi bra, because the demi bra is more so going to have like that v neck style that you don't get um or that Differs from the the balconette bra, so those are some occasions when you might grab your balcony bra over another type of bra all right and now i think the fun part is comparing the demi versus the balconette. So the purple is our demi bra underneath and then we have on top is our balconette bra. You can probably already see just notably some differences here, but let's take a look here at the neckline, as i mentioned before, we see with the demi bra. It definitely has those cups that are angled inwards, making more of that v line towards the center of your chest versus the balconette bra, which really kind of creates this straight line across again great for those square necks. So you can see both of them are roughly about a half cup uh, so that doesn't differ too much on them. But really what you want to pay attention to is the neckline. So, as you know, you're trying to figure out which bra to wear underneath your top, especially if it's lower cut because they both work well for low-cut tops. You really do want to pay attention to the style, whether it's scoop neck v-neck square neck and that might dictate which one of these two bras you end up wearing now. Uh. The other thing is, we did talk about the straps being wide set. They both they both have pretty wide set straps. We can see that the balconette definitely takes the cake. It'S you know about an inch on each side, wider, so um. That'S something else to pay attention to this works great. If you do have wide set shoulders. If you have narrow shoulders, you might struggle a little bit almost with both of these bras, because you might find that the straps are falling down a little bit more uh. You can even see on our mannequin. It can barely keep up the uh the balconette here.

All right and then the the final thing is, and let me see if i can kind of pull this up a little bit is. If we look here oops, let me get this strap up. If we look at the the underwire here again, we see with the demi bra look at this: u shape that! You really get that deep! U on it compared to the balconette where it it's more of like it does have a u-shape, but it's not as prominent! It'S almost just kind of like a half moon of sorts. I don't know if that's an actual style um, but you know you can definitely see how again extreme the u-shape is on the demi bra compared to the balconette.
