2024 Fashion: 10 Design Trends Worth Watching

Soft Color Palettes

Pantone has declared "Peach Fuzz" as the color of the year for 2024, influencing the fashion industry with its velvety soft tones. Many stylists predict that soft colors will dominate the spring palette, with light blue and yellow prominently featured in major fashion week runways.

Underwear as Outerwear

The retro trend of wearing underwear as outerwear is making a comeback. In the upcoming year, unconventional choices like wearing underwear as bottoms, especially men's briefs and boxers, will gain acceptance.

Sneakers as Casual Wear

Following the 2023 World Cup frenzy, where not only Messi's number 10 jersey sold out but also soccer sneakers became a daily fashion choice, fashion expert Lilliana Vazquez predicts that by 2024, minimalist sneakers will become ubiquitous, gradually replacing the chunky sneakers that have been popular in recent years.

Oversized Suits

In the past couple of years, work attire has shifted towards sporty casual wear. Abandoning structured tailoring, boxy oversized business suits will continue to be a trend in women's fashion. Don't discard your dad's old sports jackets; you can easily pair them with jeans and chunky loafers for a stylish ensemble.

Fringe

While fringe designs have never completely disappeared, they will take center stage in 2024.

Classic Revivals

Another fashion staple making a comeback is the neutral, versatile trench coat, especially for spring and fall. In 2024, this classic piece will be reinterpreted and combined with other trendy clothing styles.

Metallic Elements

In the past year, the fashion world has seen shiny metallic colors appearing in clothing and accessories. This trend includes not only standard gold, silver, and bronze but also other metallic hues.

Ubiquitous Denim

Denim is always in fashion, regardless of the year or season. Last year, with nostalgia for the early independent era rising, it's easy to imagine that pairing mini denim skirts with opaque leggings or cropped skinny jeans would become a current trend. In fact, their distant cousin, bohemian long denim, becomes inevitable, especially when its hem has a DIY triangular effect.

Fashion stylist Alexander Julian suggests that we should be prepared to see the use of denim material go beyond its traditional architectural norms. "Denim is definitely going to be a trend this year," he points out, "but not just regular jeans or shirts. We'll see the fabric used and constructed in exciting ways, especially in the areas of bags, dresses, and tops."

Floral Embroidery

In the West, when most people in the fashion industry hear "floral," they immediately think of grandma's tablecloths or sofa cushions. Exaggerated floral patterns and floral embroidery are back in vogue this year's fashion weeks.

Design houses like Balmain and McQueen are driving this trend forward, with a particular focus on roses. Expect to see more flowers adorning gowns and other types of evening wear, ranging from subtle patterns to legendary 3D layouts.

Sheer Attire

This year, almost every world designer showcased at least one sheer ensemble in their latest fashion shows. From Chanel and Dior to Dolce & Gabbana, models elegantly exposed their skin in gothic yet sensual pieces.

Aside from the perennially popular standard black shirts and dresses, trend forecasters anticipate a surge in transparent outfits. According to the runway, white and nude sheer clothing will see significant rotation.

Yes, by now, everyone should have a rough idea that "individuality" and "comfortable" self-expression are the trends in fashion for 2024.
