Which bra for a small breast? Expert Anna from the store kleine körbchen gives tips on what you should look for when buying a bra for small sizes.

Bras come in many different sizes and shapes. What they all have in common is that they want to be packed well and flatteringly.

Even the small breasts. And that is not as easy as it might seem.

Mom-of-three Anna was tired of being referred to the children's department when buying a bra. Without further ado, she took the issue into her own hands and founded her store kleine körbchen in 2012 - an online lingerie store especially for women with small bust sizes.

I am also part of the #teamkleinebrüste and took the opportunity to sound out expert Anna for tips and tricks for the perfect small-bust bra.

Which bra is especially flattering for small breasts?

Anna: "This question is quite simple to answer: Especially suitable is what pleases! Flattering is any bra in which you feel comfortable and therefore confident.

We women with a small bust size have a clear advantage: we don't need to pay attention to things like special support or wide straps. We can choose any bra model that we like and that fits.

Which style is preferred is completely individual. Some women prefer the pure look of delicate bralettes (that's what we call the unpadded bras without underwire). Others prefer sporty or plain bras with thin padding. They give shape to the breast and prevent the nipples from showing. Other women feel comfortable in a bra that visually increases the bust size with a push-up effect."

What to look for when buying a bra for small breasts?

Anna: "Since more or less the same rules apply to all bra sizes, the bust size is secondary for the right fit of a bra.

Basically, it is important that the underbust band fits properly. It should be neither too loose, but also not too tight.

If the underbust band slips up in the back between the shoulder blades, the band is too wide. The same applies if the bra slides up over or onto the breast tissue when moving or stretching - a problem that occurs more often with small breasts.

A clear indication that the band is too tight, on the other hand, is when imprints can be seen on the skin long after the bra has been taken off.

Many of my customers are very sensitive in the rib area and feel quickly constricted by their bra. It is therefore important to find the right balance between underbust width and support.

When buying a bra for small breasts, you should pay special attention to the cup diameter! It is important that the cup reaches far enough around the breast tissue in the middle of the breastbone as well as on the outside of the armpit, so that the bra does not press into the breast tissue.

This rule applies to all cup sizes. However, I have noticed that many manufacturers do not take this point into account, especially for the smaller cup sizes A and AA.

In the vast majority of my customers, the breast is flatter than in a B or C cup, but the diameter of the breast is not. In other words, these women also need wide underwires.

The brands that I offer in my store have developed their bras expressly for small bust sizes. Accordingly, the cup diameter and cup depth were also taken into account when developing the cut.

Which bras make a small bust look bigger?

To make the breasts look larger, the best choice is a push-up bra. In this type of bra, cushions are incorporated in the lower half of the cup, which lift the breast and thus conjure up a fuller décolleté.

In addition to a good fit and the right size, it is important to put the bra on correctly for the desired push-up effect. After putting it on, stroke the breast tissue with your hand to the right place: from bottom to top and from outside to inside. The breast tissue should rest on the push-up pad as much as possible.

Otherwise, your breast tissue may be flattened by the push-up cushions, which can make the breast look even smaller.

Finally, adjust the straps to the appropriate length. It is ideal if 1-2 fingers can still be comfortably slid under the strap. If this is not possible, the straps are too short. This is often the cause of them either cutting uncomfortably into the shoulders or the bra slipping up."

Tips in terms of lingerie for small breasts

Anna: "Actually, there is only one tip in this regard: in lingerie you should feel good above all!

For some it's a delicate bralette, for others it's a form-fitting push-up bra. Some like colored lingerie, others prefer classic black.

The important thing is that your lingerie fits properly. Fitting lingerie makes you happy and those who are happy have a better self-esteem.

Certainly not happy are bras that are so tight in the underbust band that you can hardly breathe - just so that the cup fits. Nor do lingerie that fits in the underbust band but still has plenty of room in the cup make you happy."

Are there any brands that are particularly recommended?

Anna: "At the moment I have two favorite brands.

First, I like the label Leilani Lingerie from Switzerland. Leilani is a very young label that released its first collection in May this year. The label specializes in cup sizes AA and AAA, making it unique in Europe. The first collection includes two padded plain bras in black and beige and a slightly more elaborate model with black lace.

I also find their sustainable production particularly noteworthy. Leilani manufactures in Europe with European materials.

On the other hand, I am a big fan of Aikyou. The label is from Germany and also attaches great importance to a sustainable production chain. What I particularly like about Aikyou is the purist design in black and white. It's very modern and yet timeless at the same time. The delicate bralettes are insanely comfortable and skillfully set small bust in scene."

Thank you Anna for the great tips! Basically, I am very happy with my small bust size - it also has many advantages. And now, thanks to you, we also know how to pack them really well and flatteringly.
