Six Signs That You Should Replace Your Bra
How long can you wear a bra and when should you part with it? There is no blanket answer to this question. It depends on how often you wear it and how well you take care of your lingerie. An ill-fitting bra is not only uncomfortable for you, it could even hurt you in the worst case, for example, if the underwire protrudes from the fabric. In the same way, back and breast pain can no longer be prevented. Every two years you should therefore check your bra for these six points:
1. The underwire is loose
If the underwire is sticking out, there is a risk of injury. If the metal underwire pokes into the armpit, rib or even the bust, you should replace the bra.
2. The underbust band sits loosely
The underbust band sticks out or the band at the back sits so loosely that it does not fit tightly on your body despite the last hook in the clasp. Thus, the bra no longer gives you any support.
3. The padding of the cups wrinkles
If the padding of the bra is wrinkled, for example, due to washing, the fibers are broken. The cup can no longer shape your bust optimally.
4. The straps lose elasticity
If the strap constantly slips off your shoulder, you have to readjust the bra. This is not only annoying, but also bad for your bust. Since it is no longer lifted to distribute the weight evenly on your shoulders, there is no relief.
5. The bra has lint
If your bra has lint, whether on the cup or the straps, this is an indicator that textile wear is well advanced. Neither shape nor secure support will continue. Not to mention, the lint will stand out on tight-fitting clothing and take away from the otherwise perfect look's finesse. You should feel completely comfortable and feminine in your bra.
6. Odors settle
Unfortunately, even with regular washing, this can't be completely avoided: Odors settle. Since the bra should be as close to the body as possible, it absorbs sweat through direct skin contact.
