ARE YOU NOT WASHING YOUR BRA ENOUGH?
How Often Should You Wash Your Bra? Probably Not Often Enough
Do you have that one favorite bra that fits perfectly and looks amazing? We do too, and that's why it doesn't end up in the laundry as often as our underwear. However, from now on, we should consider getting the same model in duplicate because bras need to be washed more frequently than we think. On the American website "Mumsnet," women discussed how often a bra should be washed. Many mentioned that they only put theirs in the washing machine once a month. While some women found this completely bewildering, others agreed. But how often should you really wash your bra?
THE SPORTS BRA
First, it's essential to distinguish between a regular bra and a sports bra. The sports bra should definitely go in the laundry basket after every workout because increased sweating leads to more bacteria that cause bad odors. Once these have settled into the fabric, you won't get rid of the smell in the wash. The only solution is a cold shock: put the bra in the freezer for two days. This will kill all sweat bacteria, and your bra will smell good again.
REGULAR BRA
Here, it depends on your daily activities. The more active you are, the more often the bra should be washed. However, if you spend the entire day sitting at a desk, you can safely wash it every three days. But it should definitely be in the laundry by then.
PROPER BRA WASHING
Experts recommend not putting bras in the washing machine but washing them by hand. This preserves the bra and is better for the skin. Simply fill the sink with warm (not hot) water and add some delicate detergent. Let the bra soak for a few minutes and wash it gently with your hands. If you still want to use the washing machine, always wash underwear (especially lace) in a special laundry bag to protect it better.
